Goblins! (DM: JDarkshadow)

Goblins_Below.pngWhen the “Feast of the Centaur” was called at Lord Chessex’ castle, only minor representatives were sent due to the Lord’s absence. Later into the night, after most had left or retired, only a few remained in the feast hall engaged in conversation (or slumber). That was when a servant ran into the chamber screaming, “There are goblins below!” and Sir Bort Tinsley, the knight in charge of the dinner, called upon those at the table to help.

Session 1: Degan – a young man born to the north and accustomed to the wilderness, Nikademus – an up-and-coming apprentice of the arcane arts, Parse – a street urchin with a heart of gold and blades of steel, Serif Samarand – a holy warrior well past his prime who had fallen asleep at the table, and Tex – a precocious and self-assured bowslinger, answered the knight’s call and set out for the basement. There they noticed a well from which a goblin had been pulled up in a bucket and after sealing it, ventured further into the castle’s cellars. In a large storage room the group came upon several goblins engaged in drinking, eating, and vandalism. The goblins provided limited danger in their impaired state but were still able to push over shelves of supplies onto the party, inflicting minor injuries. Further exploration of the winding rooms and passages revealed the increasing presence of goblins throughout and more and more these goblins were beginning to present a dangerous threat. Parse cautiously scouted the areas ahead, Degan rushed forward with sword and shield, Nikademus manipulated arcane powers, Serif Samarand inspired and healed, and Tex rained down piercing arrows. After stopping a number of goblins from torturing the castle dungeon’s prisoners, the party followed bloody footprints up some stairs only to see Parse nearly cut in twain by a skulking goblin. Defeating all enemies they had encountered and without a single goblin escaping to warn their kin, the group paused to consider their next course of action – balancing the element of surprise against their rapidly diminishing resources.
